Cleaning up

I've been working in a really messy environment for the last year or so; my drawers were a mess and I had a bit of everything I didn't need and barely anything I did need on my desk, my cables were possessed by demonic entities, my cork board was unreadable... it was an interesting sight. Though it didn't pose much of a problem to me back then, over time I became increasingly annoyed with the state of my work environment and, at some point this week, something changed, like a flipped switch, and I began working towards cleaning up my stuff.

I began with the desk, moving my, unplugged and coated with a layer of dust, NUC to my drawer along with its cable. Somehow this was one of the things that took up the most space on my desk, despite its compact form, and getting that alone out of the way made me feel really happy, for some reason. After that, I moved onto the cables, which took the better part of the week to get worked out, since my extension-cord-outlet-thing is quite bulky and I really couldn't find a place for it, so I ended up hooking it onto some screws I drove into my desk. It holds up surprisingly well, despite looking like a five minute crafts invention. Moving it there also let me move my stack of laptops to the wall and the back side of the desk, which gave me way more elbow room, a much welcome addition.

I repurposed the utility holder that was also collecting dust on my desk as a tool holder for my screwdrivers, and moved the writing appliances to my drawer. I also moved the desk lamp to where the utility holder was, so now I get a little bit more room for other things to clutter my desk with.

After this came the sort of fun part of clearing out the cork board, in the process of which I lost - then found 2 pins, managing to somehow prick my finger. Right now the board sits empty, and I can't recall when was the last time I actually used it for important stuff, so I'm considering getting rid of it.

To end things off, I dusted the desk and the area around it, cleaned it and rebooted all of my devices :P And that was about it. I think it was one of the things I needed to get done the most and I'm really happy I finally did it, though it did take a lot of evenings staring at my workspace and cursing myself out for being so untidy! Thanks for reading.
